~ everyone loves a bit of violence in their coffee

sleep,

is of inept

in city`s so

profound

that if we blink

we would have missed

a certain

part

of our ghosts

spendthrift`ing;

there is so much

darkness; riddles,

they are

sufferers for a

cause

I have

not a thing\nothing to offer

just absence & misery

in a sea of muffled

screams;

true,

I am an enigma,

the least

of someone else’s

troubles;

and tears, they

often fall

like cream

to sweet`en the blow

of a bland

aftertaste;

Oh, how

we are suckers

for a bit of violence

in our coffee.

Shadow Players

One glimpse

of darkness

hops from the larger

bank of shadows

just a fleck

a baby bird

with ebony feathers

has flown the nest

never to return

only to bring

flashes of lightening

as it plays

Aimless for Beauty and Love

5:30 AM the sky and air was dull red out the window
I was foolish to leave my room
Waited tapping for car headlights to pass
Aimlessly I followed across the road
There was red and yellow aimless
Causing silhouetted dark branches
Through the trees my jacket less
Torso saw that beauty was cold
Pinching my fingers took some pictures
Of horizontal pink and yellow clouds
Above while you slept back at home
Putting these pictures in a dream for you
When you wake you saw what I saw
Adding a song some tea
Shared toothpaste foaming on each others
Faces down to the sunrise I spread
Aimlessly you have perfect pitch
As I always recall how you sing on
The microphone when I hum

[ soul ] ingenue

I peeled the stigma of you
like cotton-mouth
off my thrice stained soul
with a bottle of scotch & demerol
adhered your memory to a collage
of cardiac scars & yellow tinged bruises
a shrine to the church
of lust & regret
the stained glass
a reminder
of the sins committed
in loyalty to a cause…
….the search for love
[un] holy church
Butterfly’s blade
shredding rose-petal wishes
wrist bleeds
rosary-bead droplets
upon virgin white floor
already scuffed
by my boot-healfrom vaulted ceilings
you wrap yourself in their flag
of deception
casting down
your umbilical noose
for me to swing my repents upon

THE SUN

I could have been gentle.

But you would have thought less

of me.  I am no angel

and trees cover my light.

My soul basks in its own

flame.  Rivers capture my

reflection. I look still.

I am a day star weeping

without a tear.  I take

no pity on the world.

My name is the sun.

What Sex is New Years Day

My wife pushed me out the door in the New Year AM
Buy some Duraflames for today’s fire
The last day of the year we burned up what we had
While stepping over the threshold of memory
And thoughts of the lost year but good
At the Stop and Shop I bought berries
Potatoes and Duraflame logs
I said Happy New Year to
The check out girl Cherie
She gave me a big hug and kiss
I could not wait to get home
I remembered the glass of sparkly
I left on the mantel the night before
It was flat then realizing
Cherie had whisker stubble
But still very pretty in her yellow apron
